Alternatives to Violence is a program for women who use abusive and controlling behaviors in intimate relationships.

Who Should Enroll?

Individuals who have been court-ordered to complete a batterer's treatment program and/or any women who have a history of, or are concerned about, being physically, sexually, emotionally, and/or verbally abusive toward their intimate partners.

If you have questions or would like to schedule an intake session, please call Tara at 701-331-0193.

Intake & Orientation

Meet with Alternatives to Violence staff to complete paperwork and introduce you to the group process.

If you are court-ordered to attend, written notification will be sent to the court indicating that you have completed your intake & orientation, and will begin group sessions.

Group

Thirteen group sessions address key topics with activities designed to increase knowledge and explore beliefs and behaviors. Activities are geared to help women accept responsibility for their actions, learn what abusive choices and behaviors are and why they are not acceptable, and learn to make respectful choices within their relationships.

Exit Interview

After completion of 13 weeks of group, you will end the program with an exit interview.

This is your opportunity to provide us with your impressions of the program.

Sessions are held Monday evening at 6:00 p.m., location TBD. These sessions are ongoing and open-ended, so a participant may join the program at any time.

There are fees for the intake/orientation session and for each group session. Please ask for a fee schedule. There is a sliding fee scale based on your income.
